Pvt. Varsities Asked to Follow Private University Act-2010

Nahid warns private varsities

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on April 24, 2016 said legal actions will be taken against private universities that are not following the rules of Private University Act-2010 within the stipulated time.

"Some of the private universities are yet to fulfill their minimum conditions as per the Act and they have to face legal action after the scheduled timeframe", he said.

The minister said it while presiding over the 2nd convocation of Prime University (PU) as representative of President Abdul Hamid at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka.

The minister said private universities would have to follow 'Private University Act-2010' and create congenial atmosphere for modern and time-befitting research and develop libraries and laboratories.

Account BenefitProfessor Emeritus of the Dhaka University Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman was the convocation speaker. Speaking at the meeting Professor Emeritus Dr. Anisuzzaman said apart from education, students also have to inculcate human qualities.

PU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdus Sobhan, Chairman of Private University Owners Association Sheikh Kabir, Chairman of PU Board of Trustee Engineer M. Touhidur Rahman and Vice-Chairman of PU Board of Trustee Ashraf Ali also spoke on the occasion. Total 2,000 graduates were awarded with certificates at the convocation.
