SUST Observed International Mother Language Day

Martyrs Day observed at SUST

International Mother Language and Martyrs Day were celebrated at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet on February 21, 2017 with proper manner.

The programs included placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar equipped with lights, wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, seminars, children's painting competition and cultural events.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Aminul Haque Bhuiyan placed wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar at 12:01 am in the early hours of the day. He also placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at 7:10 am and handed over prizes among the winners of children's painting competition at around 8:30 am.

Professor of the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science Dr. Narayan Saha presented a paper titled 'Secular Spirit and Bengali Language Movement' at the seminar and discussion in the mini-auditorium to mark International Mother Language and Martyrs Day.

Account BenefitIn his chief guest speech through showing respect to the language day martyrs, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Aminul Haque Bhuiyan said the education of language day is that we have to show respect on all languages and will never despise the languages of the country's ethnic communities.

Professor Dr. AHM Belayet Hossain, SUST Officers 'Association President Murshed Ahmed, workers' union president Sadeq Ahmed, BCL SUST unit vice-president Abu Sayeed Akhand, vice-president Anjan Roy, general secretary Imran Khan and joint general secretary Md. Sajidul Islam Sabuj took part in the open discussion.

The seminar was moderated by the Registrar Muhammad Isfakul Hossain. Cultural program was held at the University Muktamanch in the afternoon.
