Physics Olympiad held at IUB

The 'Seventh Physics Olympiad-Dhaka Event' was held on the campus of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital on December 17, 2016.

The IUB in collaboration with Bangladesh Physics Olympiad organized the event. Students from various schools and colleges throughout the country took part in the national competition.

The top eight winners of the contest will participate in the 18th Asian Physics Olympiad which will be held in Russia while the best five will partake in the 48th International Physics Olympiad in Indonesia.

The daylong program started in the morning with the hoisting of flag and the singing of the national anthem which was followed by physics exam. In the afternoon, the IUB auditorium was buzzing with the students from well-reputed institutions all over the country.

Account BenefitA lively and interactive question-answer session was also held. At the end of the program, Professor M. Omar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of IUB, distributed crests and certificates among the winners.

Initially, 60 winners from A, B and C categories were awarded. Category 'A' consists of students from Class 7 and 8 while 'B' and 'C' categories are comprised of students from Class 9, 10, 11 and 12.

Officials of Bangladesh Physics Olympiad and the Dean of the School of Engineering and Computer Sciences, IUB, faculty members of IUB and other educational institutions, organizers and more than 500 hundred students of various educational institutions were present on the occasion.
