President Urges Holding Public Varsity Admission Tests Centrally

President Abdul Hamid on November 02, 2016 suggested holding public university admission tests centrally or regionally to reduce the hassles of admission seekers and their guardians.

"It's our moral duty to create scopes for the students who are interested to pursue higher studies. Like previous years, the admission seekers, especially those who want to enroll themselves in science and technology universities, had to travel from one city to another for appearing at the admission tests", he said.

The president was addressing the "8th University Grants Commission (UGC) Award" giving ceremony in the capital's Osmani Memorial Auditorium. Nineteen teachers of different universities received the award for the year 2014 and 2015 in recognition of their fundamental and innovative research.

Hamid said admission seekers and their guardians face unimaginable hassles regarding accommodation, food and transport to take part in admission tests in different universities. Even many admission seekers return to their homes after being sick without appearing in the tests.

Account BenefitBesides, many guardians cannot afford sending their children to different cities across the country to take part in university admission tests, said the president.

It is very urgent to solve the problem, said the president, adding, "I think students and guardians can get rid of the situation if centralized or region-based examination system is introduced. I urge Vice-Chancellors to take practical steps in this regard. I believe the education minister and the UGC will take necessary steps in this regard."
