Irregularities in Dinajpur board

Rabindra Narayn Bhattarai, an inspector of Dinajpur Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has been issued a show cause notice by the Education Ministry for giving permission to four educational institutions to run their academic activities violating government law.

According to local sources, the inspector provided wrong information to the ministry about the number of students of Badinarpara High School of Shaghata upazila in Gaibandha, Phulchhcari Chandarshar High School, Uttar Nautara High School of Nilphamari district and Tolarhat Girls' High School in Thakurgaon.

After visiting the schools, he reported there were 51 students in every class of those schools who had taken part in the secondary examination. But real picture was that there were 15 students in the place of 51. Showing more students in his reports, he had given permission the institutions to continue their activities.

Account BenefitAccording to the ministry sources, at least 40 students need in a class to run a school at secondary and higher secondary level. In primary level it is 35. Ashim Kumar Krmokar, assistant secretary of the ministry, said the inspector had taken bribe Tk. 15 lakh from each school for the permission. He also dismissed the committees of those schools several times illegally for his own interest.

He was asked to submit the notice within seven days. When contacted, the education board Chairman Professor Ahmed Hossain confirmed the incident. He said investigation over the issue was going on.
