Professor Dr. Rafiqul Alam Made New CUET VC

CUET gets new VC

Professor Dr. Rafiqul Alam of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) took over charge as 5th Vice-Chancellor of the university on April 27, 2016.

An education ministry fax reached here today confirmed the appointment of Professor Mohammad Rafiqul Alam as the VC for a 4-year term, said CUET public relations officer Fazlur Rahman.

President and also the Chancellor of the university Abdul Hamid Advocate made the appointment as per the article 12 (2) under the Public University Act-1973.

Earlier, on April 15 the last former Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam formally handed over the charge to the present Pro-VC Professor Dr. Rafiqul Alam after completing his 4-year-term as Vice-Chancellor and his tenure ended on April 14 last under CUET article 10/1 in 2003.

Account BenefitProfessor Dr. Rafiqul Alam who joined as 1st Pro-VC of CUET on August 6 in 2013 also took charge as acting VC under the CUET article 10/3 in presence of deans of all faculties, heads of all departments and high officials at its conference hall on April 15 last.

A senior teacher of the Electrical and Electronics Department Professor Dr. Rafiqul Alam received his Master of Science (MSc) degree in Civil Engineering from the then Chittagong Engineering College (now CUET) in 1979 and joined the university in 1982.

Earlier, he served the varsity in various capacities. Professor Rafiqul Alam, son of the late Abdus Sobhan, was born in Moriumnagar village under Rangunia upazila of the district in 1958.
