Country has many worn-out school-college

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said, currently there are 10 thousand 960 decrepit educational institutions across the country, which are repairable.

Among them, 732 college, 311 school and college, 6 thousand and 464 schools and 3 thousand 453 madrasas were repaired.

The education minister said while reply to a written question raised by Wasika Ayesha Khan on the table in Parliament during the question and answer session, Tk. 301 crore was allocated for repair and renovation of private buildings in the fiscal year 2013-14, which was used for complete the unfinished works and repairs of 195 educational institutions including repair and renovation of 401 educational institutions.

Account BenefitTk. 307 crore has been allocated in fiscal year 2014-15, which was used for complete the unfinished works and repairs of 207 educational institutions including repair and renovation of 401 educational institutions.

The government has a plan to form a separate commission like public service commission to bring transparency and accountability in appointing teachers in private educational institutions.

Responding to a question from Gazi Amzad Hossain Milon (Sirajganj-3), the minister said already a seven-member committee was formed to scrutinize the proposal of separate commission.
