Recommendations of Law Commission did not Implemented in 8 Years
The 2-year Law course of college level was upgraded in 3-year to reduce the education gap with university level Law course.
In this regard, the recommendations of Law Commission has not implemented in eight years. The commission also recommended about the reformation and correction of the Law education.
In addition, admission test for Law department of college level, keep limited the number of seats, compulsory recruitment of full-time teachers, arrange the adequate infrastructure and facilities are also called in the recommendations.
The sources said, Bangladesh Law Commission was submitted these recommendations about the Law education to the government in 2007. The Commission again sent these recommendations to the ministry by converting in Bengali at the end of 2009 due to the Ministry of Education was not taken any steps in this regard.
These recommendations did not see the light till now from the year 2007 in spite of repeated demands to the Ministry of Education. Chairman of the recommendations with report making committee to reform Law education and the member of Law Commission Professor Dr. Shah Alam said this.
Among these recommendations, it is also mentioned that a 'National Law Studies Council' should be formed for overall control, supervision and oversight on the law education system. The Council will work in collaboration with the University Grants Commission and Bar Council.
The recommendation file also said to launch additional one-year vocational course before taking the Bar Council exam. Legislative Council will complete the course. However, the course will be conducted under the supervision of the Bar Council until the formation of Legislative Council.

Account BenefitOn the other hand the recommendation said, to launch a more practical system to the Law education, national history in the Law curriculum, economics, political science, sociology, logic subjects are asked to include in the Law course.
In addition, Corporate Law including IT subject, Private International Law, Comparative Law, e-commerce, intellectual property law, cyber law, environmental law, international water flow management law, and forensic law also referred to be included in the curriculum.
According to the recommendation, University LLM course should be research based, where the seats will be reserved for those elected law degree qualified. The recommendation also said, open the BCS (Law) Cadre for law graduates to create professional employment opportunities in public and private organizations.
Member of Law Commission Professor Dr. Shah Alam said, the recommendations report was sent to the Ministry of Education in 2007. The file was sent again after two years in 2009 in spite of the ministry did not take any initiative regarding this. Later, letters has been sent 10-12 times to the ministry to take effective action about the recommendations. But we don't get any positive results yet regarding these recommendations to reform Law education for an 'unknown' reason, he said.
