Sports and academic studies at BKSP

Usually we think that there are only playing games after hearing the name of BKSP. But the BKSP is an institution where sport and studies are running simultaneously.

Footballers like Emily, Zahid; Cricketers like Durjoy, Shakib, Mushfiqur; Shooters like Asif and Ratna, Sharmin are made from this institution. BKSP is located in Zirani in Savar near the capital. Outside of Dhaka, the regional centers of BKSP are in Chittagong, Khulna, Barisal and Dinajpur. There are a total of 12 categories available in Dhaka out of total 17 categories.

New students are admitted annually as per the empty seats in Football, Cricket, Shooting, Swimming, Archery, Basketball, Boxing, Judo, Tennis, Athletics, Gymnastics, Hockey, Tayakoyando, and Ushu. There is the opportunity for admission from the fourth to the eighth grade. Each new student is to be admitted from Dhaka BKSP.

Director General of BKSP, Brigadier General Md. Emadul Haque said, 'sport, study and discipline - a skilled athlete can be made after they have the combination of these three variables'. Deputy Director of the Training Department, Shamima Sattar said a student of BKSP is getting modern and scientific training with residential facilities.

Application and Selection Method:
Students are admitted annually through the newspaper admission notices. Initial and final, this two-stage screening process is running to admit new students. Mainly the age determination and medical test is called as initial screening process. Qualified students of initial screening process get an opportunity to take part in practical examination. The final selection is held after that.

Account BenefitEducational Costs:
Admission fee with Security Deposit (refundable) is Tk. 9,000/-. In addition, parents have to pay monthly fees based on their monthly income. Salary is determined considering three classes. The monthly fee is Tk. 500/- if the parents monthly income is lower or equal to the Tk. 5,000/-, the fee is 10% of the parents monthly income if their monthly income range is Tk. 5,000/- to Tk. 15,000 or upper. But the fee will not exceed five thousand taka.

Talent Hunt Activities:
BKSP arranges two competitions named Talent Hunt and BKSP Cup. The best player of the district brought out through this competition from each district by this competition in every District. Then the opportunity to admission has given them after different term of training.

Bachelor and Degree Courses:
BKSP is operates two courses under the National University (NU). The courses are the Degree (pass) Course and Diploma in Sports Science. Athletes are more preferable for those courses. Detailed information about the BKSP will be available at BKSP Website: (www.bksp-bd.org).
