Nineteen Percent of Students Dropped Out from HSC Level
HSC level dropout rate is nearly nineteen (19) percent. A total of 11 lakh and 26 thousand and 481 students had registered two years ago to take part in this year's HSC examination. 9 lakh 16 thousand 568 regular students among them are taking part in these examination that means 2 lakh 9 thousand 913 of them are dropped out.
Concerned says, it is not also the actual figure of the dropout. The actual figure is more pathetic. For example, all of them was not admitted to the eleventh those who have passed the SSC in 2012; Again the number of students admitted, all of them are not registered their name on the board. Some of the students dropped out even before the registration.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said it is not possible to bring down the dropout rate to zero. No country could not do it, no one will can. He said there are many reasons to dropout with student's poorness. We're trying to determine the cause of dropout. Accordingly we are taking the steps. However, the dropout rate decreases than ever before. This number will be reduced gradually.
Taslima Begum, Convener and Chairman of the central organization of different board's "Inter-board Coordination Sub-committee", said mostly the female students dropped out this year from HSC level. Usually the parents have a tendency to get their female child married when she reached the higher secondary level. A female student cannot have a normal stream in education when she’s married.
Director General of Secondary and Higher Education Department (DSHE) and distinguished sociologist Professor Fahima Khatun said stipend is given currently to 30 percent of the female students and 10 percent male students. Stipends are also given to the female graduate students. The main condition of this scholarship is must be unmarried. Also free books are given. But the point is, the dropout rate increasing even after giving those facilities, which is disquieting.

In the absence of security, parents of many girls’ get them married. The study life was interrupted then.
