An eve of war is going. Toxic and explosive substances are exorbitant around. Enemies can secretly set up dangerous hydrogen bomb in the camp or nuclear bombing may occur. it is hard to breath in such a situation where lives are at stake, sudden appearance of someone has changed the environment. In a wink enemies are started moving backward, situation is on favor now after enemies' weapons are destroyed and retrieval of own soldiers. But who is that someone? A human being or anything else?

The answer is that someone was a military robot. Yes, Robots are gradually replacing humans in many areas. It is even the time we let them replace human soldiers on the battlefield. Not a dream, in reality, such an innovative robot that Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology's (CUET), final year student of Mechanical Engineering Department Saidur Rahman Sujon developed. He developed the concept through improving software and hardware of robot technology. He even gained international reputation presenting paper in thean international conference in China.

The robot called Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) liner robot can be widely used in the military operation in the battlefield for data collection and analysis on enemy location and environment. It can inform Based on the surveillance done by the robot military or police can take position against their opponents.

Mine detection, spy missions and rescue missions in the devastated areas are possible using the robot. The robot can also be used to investigate the existence of life in space besides many other purposes where mans' entrance is risky.

How does it work? Saidur tells in the context, the robot is automatically computer controlled from a distance. It can detect three fundamental colors red, green and blue and sends signals to the controller computer software through radio wave serial communication system. Besides, it can inform temperature and gas status on a specific location and have the ability to send those. The robotic arm attached to it can take any object and verify object characteristics that led it to use in the devastated areas for rescue mission. Electronic sensor and servo motor have been used to make the robot that works with a microprocessor based control unit.

United States, China, Russia and Japan started using robot technology in their army long ago whereas Bangladesh army is in the far back of the technology due to inadequate research facilities in the sector. Thinking of this limitations the innovative concept was actually come in mind, said Saidur.

This is not the end point of his achievement with the concept. Recently he participated in an international conference on "Materials and Products Manufacturing Technology (MPTM-2012" held in Guangdong, Chin and presented a research paper on his concept. His concept had been appreciated by the researchers and scientists in the conference and selected for publishing. The paper will be published in an international journal named "Advanced Materials Research".

Earlier, this project had secured first position in the last International Conference on Mechanical engineering and Renewable Energy (ICMERE) project competition held at CUET. Costing behind the project research, development and participation in the conference was sponsored by the Industrial Engineering and Services (IES).

The project was supervised by associate professor Abdul wazed of the department of Mechanical Engineering, CUET and Saker ullah and Mamunur rashid, lecturer of the same department. While talking to Abdul wazed, he said, the concept developed by Saidur is actually the demand of time to adopt such technology during various risky operations.
